Last September, IKEA began to host “showcookings” or culinary exhibitions at their facilities. These showcookings are an opportunity for some of the most renowned chefs of the island to prepare their recipes live, in front of a limited audience. Recipes, cookery tips and secrets are shared during the showcookings, making it a unique opportunity for all cookery enthusiasts attending.
On 1st December, it was Marc Fosh’s turn and he presented a perfect winter dessert for the occasion: Cream of salted lemon with cherry sorbet and rose water, an avant-garde recipe offering a very interesting contrast of flavours and textures.
“People enjoyed the exhibition. It’s a very original dessert and I hope they try making it at home and like it”, said Marc Fosh at the event.
These gatherings are an ideal occasion for people to meet famous chefs in person and ask them for advice or to answer any questions related to the dishes they present. Catalina Vidal was present at the showcooking and said “It’s a magnificent dessert and I took the opportunity to ask Mr Fosh about the exact amounts of water and salt to be used. Now, I just need to taste it”.
Another attendee commented “It’s an excellent dessert; well-balanced, full, fresh and no flavour is at odds with another… we will try to make it this Christmas”.
Other chefs such as Tomeu Caldentey, Marta Coll, Miquel Gelabert and William Tétard, amongst others, have also presented their recipes at the showcookings. Without doubt, these events are a top-class representation of the prestigious chefs we have on our islands.
You can register for the next event to take place on 15th December at which Manuel Pérez from Es Molí de’n Bou will be giving the demonstration.
